Abstract
As part of a research-practitioner partnership with East Baton Rouge Parish School System (EBRPSS), LSU Social Research & Evaluation Center, and DreamBox Learning, we wanted to evaluate educator perceptions of the implementation of a digital learning platform into K-12 math classes. Our aim was to find ways to optimize both the program and the implementation to best enable educators to facilitate student success in math, especially for students who may be struggling. To do this, our initial step was to go to the educators and simply ask them about their experiences. This report outlines the procedures and the detailed examples of educator perceptions among educators in eight focus groups. Generally, these perceptions fell broadly into negative vs. positive perceptions of both student and educator engagement with the digital learning program, as well as some additional concerns and suggestions educators had about the implementation of new technologies.
