Abstract
The known methods of describing the power properties of power systems in the presence of harmonics are compiled. The present state of the power theory of linear, single-phase, time-invariant systems is reviewed. The conclusions are regarded as indispensable for successful investigations of the power properties of more complex systems, since any method of describing the power properties of multi-phase, time-variant, nonlinear systems must first of all be verified in single-phase, time-invariant, linear power systems.
