Abstract
This paper concerns a method of describing the power properties of circuits with nonsinusoidal waveforms of voltage and current: the method which is based on the source current decomposition into orthogonal components dependent on different power phenomena. The active power transmission, current shift, the load conductance variance with frequency, a nonlinearity and time-variance of the load parameters, as well as asymmetry of 3-phase loads, can be considered as phenomena that contribute to the source current value as separate current components. This paper also suggests a modification of decomposition discussed, to a form which may be more proper for describing the power flow in circuits with rotating loads. © 1993 IEEE
