Abstract
Optimization of matrix addition by condensation for real-time Matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI) detection of bioaerosols was discussed. Matrix addition by condensation was accomplished using a heated saturator and condenser. MALDI of collected particles was performed to test the efficiency of condensation matrix addition. The aerosol particle that were generated from a solution containing the analyte solution were then introduced to a heated saturator region containing the matrix 3-nitrobenzyle alcohol (NBA). It was suggested that the peaks observed were as a results of NBA on coated particles.
