Abstract
A nucleon-pair shell model was proposed in 1993 by J. Q. Chen. Due to the success of the interacting boson model, the full shell model space in the nucleon-pair shell model was truncated to SD-pair subspace, called SD-pair shell model. Within this model, the experimental spectra in medium-weight and heavy nuclei, limiting cases in the interacting boson model, phase transitions, etc. can be reproduced approximately. © 2008 World Scientific Publishing Company.
