Abstract
We have investigated the superconducting (SC) properties of ultra-thin (Formula presented) layers in (Formula presented) superlattices in which the coupling between adjacent (Formula presented) layers is modulated by varying thicknesses of insulating (Formula presented) In particular, we have formulated a phenomenological model that accounts for the dependence of the (Formula presented) transition temperature on both the thickness of and the separation between (Formula presented) layers. The results of our analysis are compared with previous studies of conventional low-(Formula presented) thin film systems. © 1997 The American Physical Society.
