Nucleon form factors and their interpretation

Abstract

All available elastic electron-proton and quasielastic electron-neutron cross sections are analyzed assuming one-photon exchange. The model in which the form factors are caused entirely by vector mesons is discussed. A good fit cannot be obtained assuming ρ, ω, and φ mesons alone. An acceptable fit with an additional ρ′ meson is discussed. Possible connections with elastic pp scattering are also discussed. © 1966 The American Physical Society.
