Abstract
The density of subgap states in an s-wave superconductor with weak magnetic impurities was analyzed using the method of the optimal fluctuation. Focus was on the clean limit when the motion of particles in the optimal potential is ballistic. It was found that the optimal fluctuation in this case is strongly anisoptropic, and that the density of states varies as a stretched exponential below the gap edge, with a power that depends on the dimension.
