Pauli-limited superconductors with fluctuating magnetic moments

Abstract
We examine the phase diagram of a paramagnetically limited superconductor in the presence of fluctuating magnetic moments, under an applied magnetic field. We consider a Ginzburg-Landau functional for the superconducting order and include classical (Gaussian) fluctuations of the magnetization. We locate the tricritical point between the first and the second order transitions and analyze the properties of the modulated (Fulde-Ferrell-Larkin-Ovchinnikov, FFLO-like) superconducting phase in its vicinity. © 2007 Elsevier B.V.
