Abstract
This bioacoustic dataset documents soundscapes in the New York and New Jersey region for the Welikia Project. The Welikia Project by the New York Botanical Gardens is a reconstruction of the historical ecology and natural geography of New York before colonization in 1609. Field recordings were collected in the fall of 2025 to capture environmental audio for a reconstruction of the historic soundscapes of the region. This dataset includes 282 raw audio recordings from 9 field locations in ambisonic, stereophonic, or monophonic format. The data are released under the Creative Commons Zero public domain dedication.
