Abstract
The importance of computer simulation and animation during the design and evaluation of a complex mixed-model manufacturing system is discussed. A case study is presented that illustrates how the Whirlpool Corporation continues to save time and money by making the upfront investment in computer simulation and animation. Specifically, the process of model validation is highlighted as an incredible opportunity to encourage team involvement, problem solving, and ownership.
