Abstract

The short stories in my thesis explore the lives of two young women from Fayetteville, North Carolina. I’m interested in family problems, and I try to write about them honestly. In my fiction, corruption fascinates me; complicity fascinates me. I’m also interested in our capacity to feel love and our failure to do so: The stories in my thesis reflect that. I began working on my stories in 2002, but most of the writing was completed during my three years at Louisiana State University.
