Abstract
AEX26 is the simulation of an Expo showcasing innovations in tech. Each of the works is presented as products or prototypes of wearable or handheld technologies. The display and marketing material that accompany these alleged products reinforce their authenticity as consumer goods. Viewers are invited to interact with these devices. Their functions address our use of technology and how technology has changed us. As a body, these works highlight the underlying cultural conditions of today, including feelings of isolation and helplessness, a disconnection from ourselves, complacency in the status quo, and the programmed need for constant stimulation.
