Abstract
Inspired by my own adoption experience, Ghost Kingdom, which is set in early 90's PA, offers an intimate lens into a biracial adoption story about race, relationships, addiction, infertility, and religion. Such as is the case with POC and LGBT populations becoming more mainstream in television and film, a priority of this project is to bring visibility and representation to the screen for adoption experiences.
Synopsis: a spiraling college student tries to maintain hope for the future despite discovering she's pregnant with a mixed baby, much to the disdain of her racist father; whereas, desperate to start a family, a working-class black couple doubt their marriage can survive after discovering they're infertile. Could one set of misfortunes be the saving grace for another?
