Abstract
Abstract Places That Are Far Away is a book of poems that explores the performance of masculinity through motifs of travel, pageantry, joke telling and others. It also explores themes of colonization, political rhetoric, capitalism and the possibility of love in a world saturated by the narratives of contemporary structures of power. It fulfills the guidelines for a creative thesis in order to complete the MFA in Creative Writing at Louisiana State University.
