Abstract
My current thesis manuscript, des-milagros, is a collection of poetry in three parts that deals with identity, inter-lingualism, culture, location, violence, masculinity, childhood trauma, and violence against the female body. The poetic voice embarks on an emotional and psychological journey in which he comes to grips with the childhood memory of his mother’s death. He internalizes this violence as it manifests in fragmented voices and episodic moments that haunt him and hinder his ability to articulate the trauma.
