Abstract
Ten samples of these lower granulite-grade supracrustal rocks yield a Rb/Sr isochron of 3390 + or - 55 m.y. with an intial Sr ratio of 0.6991 + or - 0.0007. Application of several geothermometers and a well-constrained geobarometer indicates that the granulite assemblages formed at 750oC and 5.7 kbar. Such conditions imply that the continental crust in this area must have been at least 18 km thick with a geothermal gradient of 40- 45oC/km. (Preceding abstracts)-J.P.W.
