Abstract
The power factor in three-phase systems with neutral conductor can degrade at sinusoidal voltages and currents below unity due to the load reactive power and the load imbalance. Its value could be improved back to unity with a reactive balancing compensator. Such a compensator is composed, in general, of two sub-comoensetors in Δ and Y configuration. The paper presents a method of calculation of the LC parameters of a balancing compensator based on the Currents' Physical Components (CPC) power theory. © 2013 IEEE.
