Abstract

Robust control under the \mathcal{H}-{\infty} framework has played a major role in coping with the dynamic model uncertainties that are inherent in physical systems, and in achieving the robust stability of the closed-loop system. However, the control robustness is often achieved at the expense of the transient performance of the control system, leading to slow responses to command inputs. We tackle the rise time issue for the step response, which is a major index for the transient performance, and propose a control agent at the upper level to help improve the transient performance at the physical level of the feedback control system. The effectiveness of the proposed upper level agent is illustrated by simulation results.
