Abstract

A novel multiwavelets-based modulation scheme for future non-orthogonal multiple-access (NOMA) downlink transceivers is proposed in this paper. In our proposed new NOMA transceiver architecture, the multiwavelets with spectral diversity are exploited to modulate/demodulate the superimposed multiuser signals. The inverse discrete multiwavelet transform/discrete multiwavelet transform (IDMWT/DMWT) is invoked in the base station (and the user equipment) to facilitate new NOMA communication systems. A link-level performance evaluation of our proposed new multiwavelets-based NOMA scheme is conducted. Simulation results demonstrate that our proposed novel multiwavelets-based modulation/demodulation technique can improve the peak-to-average-power ratio (PAPR) performance remarkably over the existing OFDM-based and scalar-wavelet-based NOMA systems subject to the identical bit-error rate condition.
