Abstract
The Geaux Transfer Program at Louisiana State University (LSU) supports incoming transfer students’ transition by pairing them with peer mentors who are senior transfer students at LSU . This study evaluates whether participation in the program is associated with changes in perceived transfer stigma, sense of belonging, and academic adjustment. Matched pre- and post-survey data were collected from 41 transfer students who participated during Spring and Fall 2025. Using a comparative pre–post design, this study examines changes over time and explores the relationships among the variables through statistical analysis. The primary objective is to determine whether participation in the program is associated with reduced stigma and improved belonging and academic adjustment among transfer students. Findings can provide insight into the effectiveness of structured mentorship programs in supporting transfer student success at LSU and other similar institutions.
