Abstract
An apparatus is described which generates very sensitive picosecond transient Raman spectra with 5 ps time resolution. The fast repetition rate high peak power picosecond pulses necessary to detect weak Raman scattering were obtained using a copper vapor laser to amplify synchronously pumped dye laser pulses. Transient vibrational spectra obtained by this technique have been used to investigate the excited-state photophysics of substituted diphenylethylenes. © 1986.
