Abstract
One goal of this work was to study the effect of substituting a 1,4-phenylene residue in the repeat unit of wholly aromatic polyesters containing flexible side chains by the 1,4-bicyclo[2.2.2]octylene moiety. Another goal was to investigate the effect of the number of flexible side chains per repeat unit on the liquid crystalline properties of this type of polymers.
