Abstract
Using a newly designed computer automated precision dilatometer, we are interested in determining the absolute density and the thermal expansion of atactic, isotactic, and syndiotactic poly (styrene) and comparing their thermal behavior, both above and below the glass transition. This, with the corresponding volume recovery results upon physical aging may be useful in better understanding the glassy state in these important polymers. This paper will present our first results on these materials.
