Abstract
The selectivity of fluorescence spectroscopy is exploited for the characterization of marine algae. Two-dimensional, digital images of in vivo fluorescence intensity versus excitation and emission wavelenths, called excitation-emission matrices, are used as spectral 'fingerprints' for marine phytoplankton populations. - from Authors
