Abstract
Harderoporphyrin, the tricarboxylic acid porphyrin present in the Harderian glands of the rat and hamster is shown to be 4,6,7-tri(2-carboxyethyl)-1,3,5,8-tetramethyl-2-vinylporphin by its ring synthesis via the b-oxobilane route. The isomeric 4-vinylporphyrin tricarboxylic acid is also prepared by a similar approach. © 1976.
