Abstract
A series of long wavelength absorbing photosensitizers related to pheophorbide-a, pyropheophorbide-a, bacteriopheophorbide-a and chlorin-e6 were synthesized and evaluated for their comparative in vivo tumorcidal activity and skin phototoxicity vis-a-vis Photofrin®. Structure/function relationships are discussed. All new photosensitizers were found to have high production of 1O2 and reduced skin phototoxicity compared to Photofrin®. © 1992.
