Abstract
This work reports the first generation and spectral characterization of a σ-bonded iron(IV) porphyrin which is stable in nonaqueous media at room temperature, as well as the first monomeric iron(III) porphyrin to undergo three reversible one-electron oxidations. It also gives the first example where the migration of a σ-bonded axial ligand occurs from a doubly and not singly oxidized iron porphyrin. © 1993, American Chemical Society. All rights reserved.
