Abstract
is the third largest genus of Myristicaceae in the Neotropics with 12 species, nine of them native to Colombia. Two new species from the department of Antioquia, and , are described and illustrated. occurs in humid, lowland forests, while occurs in premontane forest. Previously, was confused with (which here is considered restricted to Costa Rica and Panama), while was confused with . The similarities and differences between these and other species are discussed.
