Abstract
Two experiments were conducted with weanling Mongolian gerbils fed graded levels of protein as casein in a purified diet and as a mixture (soybean meal, casein, yeast, corn meal) in a practical type diet. Measures of dietary effects and criteria of protein requirements were weight gain and efficiency of feed utilization. Maximum gain and efficiency of feed utilization were reached with the diet containing 16.2% protein as casein and with 16.7% protein as a mixture of protein.
