Abstract
This study was conducted to develop a baseline understanding of the secondary wood products industry in South Carolina. Respondents were predominantly small and well-established furniture manufacturers. No issues were identified as seriously hampering respondents from achieving further business success. Labor issues were indicated as the most serious impediment for competitiveness. Workforce skills training, cost reduction, and waste minimization were the only areas ranked above the midpoint regarding respondents' desire for training assistance. Overall, respondents believe that there is potential for further growth and development of this sector in South Carolina.
