Abstract
Various aspects of Bolivian forest products sector, its certification worldwide, and the future of certification in Bolivia are presented. Bolivia has three forest types which include, interandinos, chaqueniosm and subtropical. The primary basis for certification is the need for consumers to be assured by neutral thrid-party organizations that forest companies are employing sound practices that will ensure sustainable forest management. Bolivia has the largest area of FSC-certified tropical forest in the world. Companies in Bolivia are implementing certification primarily to gain market share.
