Abstract
Some of the significant factors associated with wood product exports from Sri Lanka are discussed. Wood product exports is increasing in the country due to private sector investments and involvement. The country has been adopting flexible taxation policies that are encouraging exports of nature-based products, such as wood products. Export products are also exempted from duties or subjected to concessionary duty rates, while start-up subsidies have made available for a number of exporters. Export promotional schemes have been introduced to help domestic industries and the economic focus more on exports. The Export Development Board assists exporters of the country to sell their products in the global markets. These efforts have increased the number of wood product exporters significantly, enabling them to sell their products in the international market.
