Abstract
The participation of magnetic components in molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) can build a controllable rebinding process and allow magnetic separation to replace centrifugation and filtration steps in a convenient and economical way. The application of these magnetic MIPs (MMIPs) as sorbents allows not only preconcentration but also selective extraction of the target analytes from the complex samples, which is important, particularly when the impurities can interfere with quantification. This article reviews the literature dealing with the application of MMIPs to extracting compounds from complex matrices, such as environmental, food, biological and plant samples. © The Royal Society of Chemistry 2012.
