Abstract
Eden is a coming-of-age novel that surrounds its main character, Maddy Dangerfield, who draws a naked lady on the first page of Genesis and is forced to sit with her dying Aunt Pip as a form of punishment. Maddy’s mother, Faye Dangerfield, packs her things and takes her to the outskirts of the small town of Pike County, Mississippi. It is a place for the lost and sinful: Commitment Road. While there, Maddy Dangerfield discovers more than ever about her sexuality, rape, divinity, and death.
