Abstract
Thomas Sonnier wakes one morning to discover that his girlfriend of several years, Merrie, has disappeared in the middle of the night, leaving behind only a cryptic note. Struggling to find her, Thomas realizes that he knows nothing about her past and begins to discover that she lied about being an orphan. Her family is alive and well – the circus family she grew up in and ran away from. From Jackson Square and the French Quarter in New Orleans to the former circus winter quarters in Florida to a farm in Kentucky, Thomas hunts for the woman of his dreams, the love of his life. Along the way, he meets people from Merrie’s past, discovers her true name and becomes part of the unlikeliest family.
