Included in this account is a description of the relationship between the citizens of the small towns which sponsored the teams and the management and players of the clubs, fan participation, and the economic and sociological impact of the League on the area. Emphasis is ultimately placed upon characterization of the residents of the region as the League evolved. A bibliography is included which indicates that the research performed was heavily influenced by newspapers and personal interviews.
