Abstract
The roles of animal science and livestock production in food supply have changed considerably in recent years, as feeding the world sustainably will be one of our most pressing challenges in the coming decades. Globally, it is apparent that livestock production plays an important role in maintaining food supplies and it is quite clear that the demand for animal products is increasing to meet the needs and wants of the increasing population. Therefore, the industry must advance its capacity to prevent, diagnose, and control animal diseases especially through scientific and technological developments, and nanotechnology can represent an important driver that promises a more sustainable, efficient, and resilient livestock system, while promoting food security, safety, and quality.
