Abstract

The 'gas-assisted gravity drainage' (GAGD) concept, its potential advantages and experimental demonstration against continuous gas injection (CGI) and water-alternating-gas (WAG) in 6-ft long Berea corefloods, were discussed. It was shown that the GAGD process has good recovery efficiency even under immiscible mode of injection. The GAGD process recovered 82.33% in secondary mode and 18.33% of oil in tertiary mode. It was found that GAGD performing well in the miscible and immiscible modes, makes it applicable to even depleted and shallow pools.
