Abstract
This paper presents the modeling and control of a novel thermometric cooling system that can be used for head trauma injuries. The proposed device enables fluid circulation and accurate control of the fluid temperature. The overall system consists of a micro heat exchanger, a Peltier unit, a pump, appropriate tubing, a thermocouple, and an electronic control system. This paper is focused on the design of the pumping system, the thermodynamic modeling, and the development of the electronic control system. Experimental results with the proposed device show the capabilities of the system to reach various temperatures and maintain them as much as needed.
