Abstract
Optimal operation of a microgrid is one of the important requirements. The reduction of the loss power of the microgrid supports satisfying the above mission. The paper proposes a solution to optimize the location and capacity of distributed energy sources such as diesel generators (DG) and microturbines (MT) in the microgrid to ensure the minimum active and reactive loss powers. An improved artificial bee colony (ABC) algorithm is proposed to find the solution of the optimal location and capacity of the DGs and MTs of the islanded microgrid with 33 buses. The improved ABC algorithm-based achievements are compared with those obtained using an ABC algorithm, a genetic algorithm (GA), and a particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm to validate the proposal.
