Abstract
The present study was aimed at determining Maximum Aerobic Capacity (MAC) of Combined Manual Materials Handling (CMMH) tasks. The study also determined whether MAC values based on standard treadmill tasks are significantly different from those based on combined manual materials handling tasks. Results of this study showed that, on the average, MAC of Treadmill tasks was 2.44 l/m (SD = 0.56 l/m), whereas the MAC of CMMH tasks was 1.73 l/m (SD = 0.36 l/m). Based on the results, it is concluded that standard treadmill tasks result in significantly higher MAC than do the CMMH tasks. Moreover, the MAC values of CMMH tasks is relatively lower than those of lifting tasks reported in the literature.
