Abstract
Operation sequences in cell formation in cellular manufacturing system (CMS) are nowadays emphasized by many researchers gradually. This paper presents a brief. critical review of the methods of cell formation based on the operation sequences. A number of operation sequence-based similarity/ dissimilarity coefficients are reviewed in this research. The methods of cell formation based on the operation sequences are classified primarily into four kinds. mathematical programming. network analysis. materials flow analysis method. and heuristics. The basic methodologies of those methods are analysed in this paper. © 1998, Taylor & Francis Group, LLC. All rights reserved.
