Abstract
Abstracts: Four precast RC frame joints with HRB500 high strength rebars of large diameter and spacing were tested under low cyclic loading. The crack propagation process, failure modes, hysteretic behaviors, skeleton curves, ductility, and energy dissipation were investigated. The results indicate that the flexure failure occurs in the plastic zones at the ends of the beams while the joint region generally remains elastic. The joints show good integrity, relatively good ductility and energy dissipation capacity. Comparing to the normal reinforcement form, the performances of the joints with reinforcements of large diameter and spacing are equivalent. The mechanical anchorage approach used to anchor beam rebars in joints is proved to be safe and reliable.
