Abstract
Electrolytic plasma process (EPP) was utilized to clean the oxide layer formed from high temperature oxidation on AISI type 304 stainless steel. The AISI304 steel was oxidized at 800°C in air for 1, 50, and 100 hours. The oxidized and EPP cleaned surfaces were characterized by X-Ray diffraction, SEM and EDAX. The results indicate that EPP has the capacity of cleaning the surface with long term grown oxide layer. Copyright © 2011 MS&T'11®.
