Biography of all authors

Hesham had his BSc in engineering with emphasis on Energy Systems from Suez University, Egypt, and his MS degree in Engineering Mathematics from Cairo University, Egypt. He is currently a Ph.D. student at the department of Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Mechanics at the the University of Cincinnati and an MS student at the department of Mathematics at the the University of Cincinnati, the University of Cincinnati, OH, USA. Hesham’s research interests are nonsmooth systems theory, identifiability, observability and controllability of dynamical systems, differential- algebraic systems, geometric control theory, extremum seeking control theory, and optimal control theory.



Peter is an Associate Professor of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Maine. He received his Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from the University of Waterloo before completing a postdoctoral fellowship in the Process Systems Engineering Laboratory at MIT. His research interests are found in the modeling, analysis, and control of hybrid and nonsmooth dynamical systems, with applications in engineering and biological and social systems.



Dr. Sameh Eisa is both an applied mathematician and engineering scholar with BSc in Electrical Engineering from Alexandria University, Egypt and Ph.D. in Applied and Industrial Mathematics from New Mexico Tech, NM-USA (2017). He worked as a postdoctoral researcher and lecturer at the University of California, Irvine (2017- 2021) prior to joining the University of Cincinnati (UC) as an Assistant Professor of Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Mechanics. Dr. Eisa’s research is interdisciplinary and broad, but centers around dynamical and control theory (geometric control, averaging, extremum seeking, and stability/sensitivity methods) with a fundamental approach to problems con- cerning optimized systems biology, biomimicry, unmanned systems, and renewable energies. Dr. Eisa is a 2023 University Research Council (URC) Scholar awardee. He also has other honors, nomination to top international awards (such as SIAM Early Career Award in Life Sciences) with supporting letters from leaders of the control field, highlights in major scientific news, co-organized events and served as a TC member in SIAM and IEEE conferences, and reviewed for leading journals such as IEEE TAC, Automatica and Nonlinear Dynamics.
