Abstract
We demonstrate that periodic metallic gratings can greatly enhance the optical absorption efficiency of thin-film solar cells. We also introduce aperiodic multilayer structures with highly directional absorptivity for both polarizations for solar thermophotovoltaic systems. © 2012 IEEE.
