Efficient coupling to metal-dielectric-metal plasmonic waveguides with subwavelength slit structures

Abstract
We introduce compact micron-scale slit structures for incoupling free space light into subwavelength metal-dielectric-metal plasmonic waveguides. An optimized two-slit coupler leads to ∼3.3 transmission enhancement compared to the optimized single-slit coupler. © 2012 OSA.
