Abstract

This paper proposes a methodology for estimating the idling cost rate of retaining equipments by evaluating resources constraints in construction project scheduling. By examining the basic operation data of construction equipments, we divide the idling cost rate of retaining equipment into two parts: use factor, and ratio of rental cost rate to operating cost rate. Sensitivity analysis is employed in order to show how the two parts affect the idling cost rate of retaining equipment. At last, a stochastic model of estimating idling cost rate of retaining equipment was discussed and its future applications were proposed.
